Juliet Davis & Amy Lawrence Virtual Orangery Project
The work created by Juliet Davis and Amy Lawrence consists of a series of actions forming short video pieces that activate the ‘non-spaces’ of the virtual tour. The artists’ physical exploration of the site was impulsive and responsive, playfully exploring the slippage between the real and the virtual.
The work attempts to transfer a sense of the ‘present moment’ - often associated with live art - to an online setting.
Juliet Davis & Amy Lawrence Biography
Davis and Lawrence's collaborative relationship evolved during Davis’s recent visit from Rennes (France) for an educational exchange within Manchester School of Art. The artists found a mutual interest in the possibilities of choreographic instruction within a multi-disciplinary practice; the process of creation forming the work itself. Recent projects include a performance at 'PRISM Manchester,' curated by the 'Lionel Dobie Project,' Sways bunker, Salford (2013) and delivering a site-specific choreography workshop at 'Rogue Studios,' Manchester (2013).
